When You Photograph Photographers…

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted photos here.  Back in May, my fiance and I went on a week-long vacation to Savannah to visit his parents.  While we were busy eating our way through the South, we managed to sneak in some visits to the amazing historical sites in the area.  Unfortunately, that famous Southern humidity did quite the number on my camera.  Halfway through our visit to Fort Sumter, my camera quit on me! Fast forward to November 5th.  My dear friend, Chrysti, who is the amazing photographer who shot my...

Millenials, Worship, and the Church

Multi-generational worship is becoming a thing of the past as churches pursue a style of worship that is Millennial-friendly to the exclusion of everyone else. This doesn’t bode well for the Church. Here are two reasons why.

FoodHack: Triple Chocolate Cupcakes with Almond Cream Cheese Frosting

Rich and decadent, with a hint of orange, this creamy chocolate and almond dessert hits all the right notes! My dad’s birthday was yesterday!  (HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DAD!) To celebrate, my mom, fiance, and I surprised him at their weekly Bible Study with some (almost) homemade cupcakes. After much deliberation, I settled on a rich, chocolate cupcake and a white frosting (my dad’s favorite).  You know me, though, I couldn’t just keep it simple. I HAVE ONE HARD AND FAST BAKING RULE: Use a boxed mix if you have to, but always make your own frosting!...

Stress-Free Wedding Photos (And Our First Freebie!)

In case you missed it, I’m getting married! As a photographer myself, when it comes to our wedding photos, I’m obviously very particular.  We’re going with the stellar Chrysti Erman at Full Circle Photography, who’s not only a dear friend, but a fantastic natural light photographer.  Chrysti and I have very similar styles, plus I just LOVE hanging out with her, so it was a perfect fit! As a bride, I find myself in the weird (for me) position of being the one in front of the camera for a change.  Since planning a...

18 Years

It’s Valentine’s Day. I am wearing my favorite blue dress and sparkly earrings. The sun is setting behind the hills. A handsome gentleman is engaging me in conversation over dinner at an elegant restaurant. He puts a ring on my finger, and my stomach does flips.

Never Say Never

Never Say Never

I really don’t like Multi-Level Marketing. It’s turned so many of my friends into product shills that my Facebook feed is a never-ending stream of That Crazy Wrap Thing, Herbalife, P90X, a million different kinds of health drinks, Jamberry Party requests, and Lila Rose hair doodads. But today I did something I swore I’d never do.  I joined an MLM and became a doTERRA Essential Oils Wellness Advocate. I did it for the discounts, okay?  I was going to buy this stuff anyway (because I’ve experienced good things about...

God is Good.

God is Good.

Today has been a crappy day. Got a really awful, messy email this morning.  Took my car in for an oil change that ended up being $500 of required maintenance, plus found out that I needed a brand new set of tires. When I got to the tire place, they didn’t take Amex, which is the only credit card I have. Attack. Attack. Attack. And all before noon. But God has been impressing on me that He is supposed to fight my battles for me. I need to trust Him to take care of me and provide for all my needs.  So I just decided to take a deep breath...

What’s My Motivation?

What’s My Motivation?

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend among all humans, but it seems to particularly affect both the young and the females of the species. ***NOTE: I am, in real life, a human girl.  As the song says, “I enjoy being a girl.” We get to wear nail polish and cry at Hallmark commercials and braid hair.  What I say here should be directed first at me, then the rest of the females and youths in question.*** Dear humans, stop presuming the motivations of other people.  89% of the time, your presumption is wrong.  You know the old saying:...
